Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family which would later consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her expansive and vivid imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could write or read. She bought her first guitar at the age of 8 and began performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at eleven years old. The first album she recorded was during the same year on Gold Band Records, a small, independent label. As a student in high school, she was able to make her mark locally but dreamed about a larger stage. Following her graduation in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to be a part of his syndicated show from the beginning. Parton took the offer and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The show ended in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it went to Number. In 1974, the track by Parton I Will Always Love You reached No.
