Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Two soccer. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won the national title twice. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. After graduating Lee Roy moved to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
